(KNSI) – Young Minnesotans pursuing careers in law enforcement have an opportunity for help paying for school through the Minnesota Sheriff’s Association’s annual scholarship program.
The MSA says applications are now open for their 2025 Law Enforcement Scholarship Program, which will award up to eighteen $2,000 scholarships to qualifying students. The program is sponsored by the state’s 87 sheriff’s departments.
The scholarships are specifically for students who show both academic excellence and financial need. To apply, students must be currently enrolled in one of three courses: the Mandated Peace Officer Standards and Training Skills Program, second-year students in a two-year law enforcement program, or third or fourth-year students pursuing a four-year college criminal justice degree.
Applications must be submitted to the applicant’s local sheriff by November 21st, 2025. Scholarship winners will be announced on December 30th, 2025, giving recipients time to plan for the upcoming academic year.
Interested students can find application forms in person at their local sheriff’s office, including the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, or download them online by clicking here.
