PERHAM — The Minnesota Sheriff’s Association (MSA) has opened its Law Enforcement Scholarship Program for 2025.
In a press release by Otter Tail County Sheriff Barry Fitzgibbons, he stated the MSA board of directors established a fund that could award up to 18 scholarships, each worth $2,000. The scholarships are focused on assisting students attending peace officer training or law enforcement degrees in the state.

The scholarships are provided through a coordinated effort of the 87 elected sheriffs of the state of Minnesota, the press release stated.
MSA Executive Director James Stuart explained that law enforcement faces challenges in recruiting, and the scholarships are one way they can support students who choose to go into law enforcement careers.
The MSA scholarship committee, in making its selection of awards, intends to achieve representation from all geographical areas of the state, the press release noted.

Applicants must also have completed at least one year of the two-year program or two years of a four-year program.
Application forms and a statement of procedures are available at the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office or online at www.mnsheriffs.org. The scholarship deadline is Nov. 28.
Awards will be announced by the end of December.
