JACKSON, Tenn. — An annual scholarship pageant returns to the Hub City. This year’s themes is “A Classical Affair of Remembrance: Elegance and Honor.”
The Nu Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. introduced their contestants for Friday evening. This is their 73rd year having their cotillion.
Contestants in high school have the opportunity to be awarded scholarship funds that will go towards their college education.
Contestants are encouraged to share their community impact in order to qualify for scholarship funds.
These funds range from $1-5,000.
“Our contestants are not based as they are in a typical pageant. Our winner is chosen by community participation and sponsorship from community vendors. We’re very proud, tonight is just another night milestone in the history of debutante cotillion,” said Clara Johnson, president of the Nu Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc.
They are proud of their contestants and the hard work they have shown.
