The SME Education Foundation, in partnership with the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation, today announced the launch of the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation Scholarships for Neurodiverse Students. Made possible by a generous grant from the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation, this first-of-its-kind initiative for the foundation aims to remove financial barriers and create new career pathways for students with autism and other disabilities, helping them pursue paths in manufacturing and engineering.
“At the SME Education Foundation, we believe in empowering all young people to achieve their full potential. Providing equitable access to high-quality education and workforce opportunities is at the heart of what we do,” said Rob Luce, vice president of the SME Education Foundation. “With this generous gift in support of scholarships from the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation, we’re ensuring neurodiverse students have financial resources and support they need to gain the skills and education necessary for successful careers in manufacturing.”
The Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation Scholarships for Neurodiverse Students will provide over $200,000 in financial assistance, reinforcing both organizations’ missions to expand access to new career opportunities to meet the needs of industry. This initiative aligns with the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation’s long-standing commitment to empowering young people with disabilities to lead productive and independent lives.
“There is a growing demand for skilled manufacturing and engineering talent in the U.S.,” says Kevin R. Webb, executive director of the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation. “We are proud to join the SME Education Foundation to launch the new Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation Scholarship Program for Neurodiverse Students to help meet industry needs for a talented and skilled workforce.”
