Alverno College offers a new scholarship for students enrolling in its special education program
Alverno College in Milwaukee is working to fill a critical need for special education teachers.
The college is offering scholarships to students who are racially, ethnically, linguistically or ability diverse. The scholarships will cover two years of school, which includes most or all of a student’s tuition. Students will get their special education license at the end of the program.
According to Alverno College leaders, the high demand for special education teachers almost guarantees job placement after college.
Desiree Pointer-Mace, a professor of education at Alverno College, and Nilda Cordova, a success coach, sat down with 12 News’ Gerron Jordan to discuss this scholarship opportunity.
