The Minnesota Broadcasters Association is looking for applicants for the James Wychor Scholarship. The Minnesota Broadcasters Association James Wychor Scholarship’s purpose is to feed the future of broadcasting in the State of Minnesota. The scholarship is for Minnesota High School Seniors looking at going into Mass Communications/Communications (radio, television, marketing, etc). The student must also be active in sports or any MSHSL activity like speech, drama, music, etc.

Do I need to live in Minnesota to apply? Yes. The scholarship is open to Minnesota High School Seniors.
Do I need to be a Minnesota Broadcasters Association member to apply? No.
Do I need to attend a Minnesota Post-Secondary school? No. It is not required that the school be in Minnesota.
Does my post-secondary education need to have an emphasis or major in mass communications, marketing, engineering/technical, video/audio production, editing or other broadcast field? Yes.
Do I need to be a student/athlete/activities participant with a participating
Minnesota State High School League School to apply? Yes. You need to be a full-time student registered or attending a recognized Minnesota State High School Member School.
How do I submit my application? Please follow the application process. Supporting materials like audio, video, documents can be upload to an external site with a link for download (Dropbox, Google Drive, YouTube, Vimeo, etc.). All documents should be in PDF or Microsoft Word Format.
When will the MBA and MSHSL announce the winners and award the scholarship? The scholarship winner(s) will be announced in June 2024.
Can I be awarded a scholarship in multiple years? No. There must be a new scholarship recipient(s) awarded each year. You are not allowed to win in multiple years.
