Photos of three of this year’s eight Wilkes high school seniors who received James Cook Memorial Scholarships weren’t included when photos of other recipients were published in the Aug. 28 issue of the newspaper.
The three are Jolie Wyatt and Braydon Schronce, who graduated from North Wilkes High School this spring, and Chase Brown, who graduated from Wilkes Central High School.
Like the other recipients, they each received $1,000 James Cook Memorial Scholarships. Information about the three was in the article in the Aug. 28 issue.
The scholarship was created in 2019 to honor the memory of James Cook, who was a co-owner of Cook’s Inc. in North Wilkesboro and youth sports coach. It recognizes student-athletes for sportsmanship, leadership and putting team before self.
