JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that the state of Florida has surpassed 500,000 students participating in Florida’s school choice program during a news conference in Jacksonville on Friday.
According to the Florida Department of Education, school choice is designed to support quality public and private educational choice programs, by providing information and assistance to promote successful outcomes for students, families, institutions and communities.
The state offers a variety of school choice options, including scholarship programs that allow parents different choices among public and private schools.
DeSantis said the state of Florida is committed to providing options that work best for all students.
“You look at all school choice in the entire United states for scholarships, Florida represents about a third of all scholarships recipients in the entire United States of America so that’s huge huge thing we’ve been able to do” said DeSantis
The DCPS School Choice application deadline is Jan. 31.
