CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) – The Under Armour Junior Tour gives kids the chance to get involved with golf at a young age.
League director and territory executive for Under Armour, Kenn Francis, said they hand out scholarships every year at the annual fundraiser tournament in Conway.
He said Sunday’s event wouldn’t be possible without the support of communities and businesses in the area.
“We started off in our first year, and we could barely give away three scholarships, and here we are with 11 now and some more coming this afternoon because the community has stepped up,” said Francis.
Kids on the tour range from ages six to 18 years old, and Francis said seeing them grow up is extremely rewarding.
“It’s a tough question; words can’t describe it’s probably one of the greatest accomplishments I have in my life to impact these kids and provide an outlet for some golf, discipline, manners, respect and friendship,” said Francis. “It all comes with our tour and what we’re building, and I’m incredibly thankful for that.”
The tournament handed out 10 sponsored scholarships last year. This year, they handed out 11.
