Northeast Alabama Community College will host the “Ernie & Friends” comedy show Thursday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. in the Tom Bevill Lyceum to raise funds for student scholarships.
The night of clean comedy will feature NACC alum Ernie Kennamer, along with comedians Jason Hedden, Jody Fuller and Roy Hairston. Proceeds will benefit the college’s academic and athletic scholarship programs.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Aug. 29, at 9 a.m. and can be purchased online at nacc.edu or by calling 256-638-4418, ext. 2248. General admission is $20. An Alumni & Friends Package, which includes priority seating and a 5:30 p.m. reception, is $40.
“Mr. Kennamer is enjoying a great second career after being a K-12 coach and teacher. He performs throughout the country,” NACC President David Campbell said. “He is doing this show as a fundraiser for scholarships for our college. We thank him for this, and I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy an evening of laughter.”
Kennamer, who played basketball at NACC before beginning his career as a writer, comedian and restaurateur, said he looks forward to returning to campus.
“I look forward to returning to my old stomping grounds,” Kennamer said. “It was two of the best years of my life. I’m hoping that some of the alumni who attended with me 50 years ago can attend the reception and the show.”
Kennamer has worked with comedy legends such as Leanne Morgan, Jim Carrey and Howie Mandel. He was a top-five finisher in the 2024 Clean Comedy Challenge.
Joining him will be Hedden, a Florida-based comedian and producer who frequently opens for Grand Ole Opry member Henry Cho; Fuller, a writer and speaker who served three tours in Iraq with the U.S. Army; and Hairston, a Henagar native whose routines mix self-deprecating storytelling with Southern humor.
