Hutchins Academy announces that Nalani Sims, a senior at Chattanooga State Collegiate High School, has been awarded the Presidential Scholarship from Alabama A&M University, valued at $107,472. This comprehensive scholarship covers tuition, room, board, fees, and includes a $1,000 book allowance per semester.
“This extraordinary achievement by Nalani sets the tone for what we expect to be a phenomenal year at Hutchins Academy,” says Marie Mott, CEO of Hutchins Academy. “While many people’s New Year’s resolutions are already beginning to fade, our students have already been executing their plans with precision and purpose. Nalani, who has balanced her rigorous academic schedule with a job at Publix, exemplifies the dedication we cultivate in our mentees. Her success isn’t a matter of chance – it results from unwavering commitment and following our proven blueprint for academic excellence.”
Ms. Sims, who is also a Questbridge Finalist for the National Match to be awarded in spring, said, “I’m beyond excited to share that I’ve been accepted into Alabama A&M University. This journey has been anything but easy, but every challenge has pushed me closer to the future I’m working so hard to build. Coming from a background where opportunities like this aren’t always guaranteed, I know just how much this acceptance means—not just for me, but for the path I’m paving. I’m grateful for every late night, every sacrifice, and every person who has supported me along the way. This is just the beginning.”
“What’s particularly inspiring about our young scholars is their ability to maintain focus and persistence in pursuit of their goals,” said Ms. Mott. “This is Nalani’s second full-ride scholarship offer, demonstrating that consistent effort yields consistent results. While not every opportunity results in a win, our students trust the process. They understand that success comes from keeping your head down, doing the work, and letting the results speak for themselves. Chattanooga should prepare itself for the next wave of scholarships and awards from Hutchins Academy – this is just the beginning of what we call the Hutchins Academy Way.”
