The theme for this year’s competition is “How are you showing patriotism and support for our country?”
Roberts takes this question to heart.
“We’re not looking for hoopla… because students don’t give ’em to us,” said Roberts.
Students can participate by submitting a short video or a 350-word essay to earn financial aid. The Patriot’s Pen competition for middle schoolers offers a grand prize of $5,000. For high schoolers, the Voices of Democracy competition provides up to $35,000 in scholarship prizes. Both submissions are due by October 31.
