FREMONT, Calif. — Nationwide Boiler Inc. raised more than $63,000 through sponsorships, donations, auctions, and raffles in connection with this year’s charity golf tournament, held at the Pebble Beach Golf Links on May 8 and May 9.
The money will be equally distributed between two causes: the American Boiler Manufacturers Association (ABMA) Scholarship Fund, which supports the education and development of future professionals in the boiler industry, and Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area, which is dedicated to granting wishes to children with serious illnesses.
“We are thrilled with the incredible support and participation we received this year,” Larry Day, president of Nationwide, said in a press release. “The generosity of our participants, donors, and event sponsors has allowed us to continue this wonderful tradition, making a significant contribution to two outstanding organizations. The results are a testament to the strength and commitment of our industry and community as a whole.”
The occasion brought together 52 golfers for a practice round at the Poppy Hills Golf Course, followed by a tournament round at the Pebble Beach Golf Links. At the conclusion of the event, roughly 100 guest attendees gathered for a Hawaiian luau-themed awards banquet, auction and raffle, and buffet dinner.
The tournament saw Geoff Wilkinson Jr. of G.T. Wilkinson Cos. emerge as the low-gross winner. Mitch Frank of HTS Inc., was the handicap division winner, and Matt Whittington of Hurst Boiler & Welding Co. was the Callaway Division winner. Nationwide’s Jack Valentine took home the award for closest to the pin, and, for the first time in the tournament’s history, longest drive was awarded to a women golfer, Emily Forth of Tulsa Heaters Midstream.
