LINCOLN — The Nebraska Health Care Foundation has awarded more than $53,000 in annual scholarships and grants in support of its mission to attract, develop and retain Nebraskans who serve those living in a nursing home or assisted living community.
Paige Simpson of Grand Island received the American Health Care Association-National Center for Assisted Living Congressional Briefing Scholarship. Simpson works for Tiffany Square.
Earning general scholarships were Amy Cassidy of Burwell and Lindsay McMeen of Broken Bow. Cassidy works at Community Memorial Health Center, and McMeen works for Brookestone View.
In addition to the scholarships, two area facilities received safe resident assistant grants. They are the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg, and The Oaks at Central City in Central City.
Recipients will be recognized at the Nebraska Nursing Facility Association-Nebraska Assisted Living Association annual convention set for Aug. 26 at Younes Conference Center North in Kearney.
Scholarship funds are made available through Gallagher, Health Care Information Systems, Nye Health Services, The Olson Group, Sysco Lincoln, and The Vetter Foundation, in partnership with NHCF. The Safe Resident Assistance Grant is made possible by West Bend Insurance Company Charitable Fund at the West Bend Community Foundation.
