Nevada Treasury Awards Kenny C. Guinn Memorial Scholarships to Four – Hoodline

The Nevada Treasury has officially announced the four fortunate recipients of the 2025 Kenny C. Guinn Memorial Scholarship. As reported by News3LV, this scholarship is notably granting up to $5,000 each to two deserving students in Northern and Southern Nevada. These students are currently majoring in elementary or secondary education, with a dedicated plan to teach within the state after their graduation.
Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine expressed vast pride in the scholarship awardees, asserting to Nevada Business, “By choosing careers in education, they are committing to a noble path, one that will shape the lives of hundreds of students in our state for years to come.” The scholars this year include Alma Lucia Lundstrom Lopez and Izabella Silver, both from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas; Gabriella Minoletti from the University of Nevada, Reno; and Gage Steilman from Great Basin College.
Alma Lucia Lundstrom Lopez, who possesses a 4.0 GPA and distinction as a high-honors graduate, has her sights set on an elementary education. She is a firm advocate for differentiated instruction and multisensory learning, with a personal mission to “create an inclusive classroom where students, regardless of learning differences, can thrive both academically and personally,” as she stated in an interview with Nevada Business.
Gabriella Minoletti looks to nurture an appreciation for agriculture and leadership as she works towards her degrees at the University of Nevada, Reno. Minoletti told News3LV, “I hope to become the kind of teacher who inspires students the way my role model, my dad, has inspired his.” On the other hand, Gage Steilman from Elko is committed to teaching secondary education with an English emphasis and plans to possibly pursue advanced degrees in English literature. With a solid record of academic achievement, including dean’s list honors, Steilman is poised to make a significant impact on his future students’ lives.
Izabella Silver, despite her challenges with homelessness, has been recognized as the 2023 Sophomore of the Year at UNLV and continues to strive for educational excellence and social impact. “I am committed to educational excellence and social impact,” Silver shared with Nevada Business. Her resilience stands as testament to her unwavering determination.
