Arabian Temple 42 is preparing for its annual Potentate Ball, where the group will award two $1,000 scholarships to students. The events begin on Friday, October 24, with a meet and greet, fish fry, and dancing, followed by the ball on Saturday, October 25, at the Havelock Tourist and Event Center. Tickets are available now.
The organization's leader said the ball is their biggest fundraiser of the year.
Morris Harris, potentate of Arabian Temple 42, said, "We give our scholarships to two deserving high school seniors to help them support their education." He added, "I think it's very important to help the youth to make sure that there's someone there to support them with their educational goals."
Arabian Temple 42 participates in various charitable projects in the community, including visiting schools to support at-risk youth, donating to the food bank, and hosting a diabetes walk.
