New med school scholarship targets rural health care – Fingerlakes1.com

Two medical students will get full rides to LECOM Elmira—if they agree to practice locally after graduation, according to the Corning Leader.
Corning Inc. and LECOM launched the Future Foundations Health Scholarship to fight rural doctor shortages in Chemung and Steuben counties. In return for free tuition, recipients must commit to four years of full-time primary care in those counties after residency.
The program focuses on students passionate about serving underserved areas and covers high-demand specialties like family medicine and psychiatry.
