BOISE, Idaho — Community support for fallen Ada County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tobin Bolter has continued since his passing. Baseball, softball and football games, marathons and more have been held in his honor.
The latest honor – a new nonprofit organization has been established to honor Bolter.
The Tobin Bolter Memorial Project and Scholarship Program Corp. aims to support wounded officers, first responders and their families while providing scholarships to students pursuing careers in law enforcement, public service and biblical studies.
Bolter was fatally wounded during a traffic stop the night of April 20, 2024, and died the following day. He previously served with the Meridian Police Department in Idaho and the Pleasant Hill Police Department in California.
The organization will participate in Idaho Gives 2025, a statewide initiative supporting nonprofits through online donations. It will be held from April 28 to May 1.
A total of $4,148,374 was raised for 624 nonprofit organizations in 2024, with 13,147 people donating during Idaho’s largest celebration of charitable giving.
“We’re working closely with Tobin’s wife Abbey Bolter and her father Benjie Wells, who are helping guide our Scholarship Committee, dedicated to supporting future law enforcement officers and biblical studies students in Idaho and beyond,” the nonprofit said in a news release.
According to the nonprofit, the scholarship will be offered to students who are enrolled and must be committee-approved.
Community members interested in supporting the nonprofit can contact the organization at (208) 202-5316.
The memorial project seeks to preserve Bolter’s legacy of service, courage and faith, according to the organization.
