The Enhance Hamilton County Foundation has announced the establishment of the Richard W. Textor Memorial Scholarship.
The scholarship was created by his family to celebrate the life and legacy of a longtime educator, coach and administrator who served the South Hamilton School District with distinction for more than two decades.
Textor dedicated his career to education, spending 26 years as superintendent until his retirement in 1996 from the South Hamilton Community School District. While he valued academic excellence, he was most passionate about supporting students behind the scenes, quietly stepping in to help those in need and working tirelessly to ensure every child had access to a quality education. He believed in making a difference without seeking the spotlight.
Beginning in May 2026, a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior from South Hamilton who is pursuing a degree in teaching, coaching, or school administration. In honor of Textor’s lifelong dedication to equity and opportunity, preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need.
Applications will be available through the South Hamilton guidance office, with recipients selected by a faculty and counselor-led committee.
The Foundation is currently accepting gifts to grow the scholarship fund. Contributions can be made in a variety of ways, including:
— Online donations and checks;
— Wire or ACH transfers;
— Gifts of appreciated stock, mutual funds, or bonds;
— Qualified charitable distributions from IRAs.
