The Jerry and Linda Vandeveer Public Safety Scholarship Fund, primarily funded by private contributions, will provide financial support to students seeking a career in police, fire, or ambulance services who have selected a core component from an institution of higher learning along that career path.
“We are excited to get this initiative kicked off,” Allen County Commissioner Nelson Peters said. “This was an opportunity to truly honor such a deserving couple as the Vandeveers and help to fill a void in educating first responders to work right here in Allen County.”
