Local resident and real estate agent Amanda Pinkerton has launched a new $1,000 college scholarship program for San Tan Valley high school students from the graduating Class of 2024.
"I'm excited to announce a new scholarship opportunity for graduating high school seniors in San Tan Valley," said Pinkerton, with HomeSmart Lifestyles. "The scholarship is designed to support students in their college pursuits and aims to recognize and reward an exceptional student who finds greatness within our community."
She said she was inspired to offer the Pinkerton Properties Scholarship Program based on her own family's experiences.
"When my daughters applied for scholarships it was incredibly disappointing that despite their stellar academics, sports achievements and volunteer hours, there was very little success," Pinkerton explained. "I want to provide one more opportunity for students, increasing their odds of being awarded $1,000 by limiting applicants to only those who live in San Tan Valley. I see this scholarship as a way to not only support local students, but also to connect with the community on a deeper level. I’m so excited to read their essays.”
Students interested in applying for the scholarship on her website are invited to write a 500- to 600-word essay on any of the following:
Entries are due by July 25 and the winner will be announced on Aug. 1.
In addition to their essay, applicants’ parents’ are required to register at PinkertonProperties.com and provide contact information.
Pinkerton noted that this scholarship program is part of her ongoing commitment to support local schools through sports sponsorships, school donations, teacher appreciation gifts and volunteering in the community.
"I love to give back to the community that has supported my business over the years," she said.
