Omolade Adeniyi
Omolade Adeniyi
Omolade Adeniyi, a Newnan resident and graduate of the Georgia Cyber Academy, recently received the Ellen Ingram Memorial Nursing Scholarship from the Optimist Club of Senoia.
The $1,500 scholarship was established in 2023-24 in memory of former nurse Ellen Ingram, whose career in behavioral health spanned 40 years. For the first time this year, the Optimist Club of Senoia made the scholarship available to home-schooled and online students, said Senoia Optimist Contest Chair Jean Cotton.
Beginning in the eighth grade, Adeniyi enrolled in advanced classes, summer school and dual-enrollment classes to prepare for her lifelong goal as a Registered Nurse, according to Cotton.
Adeniyi graduated from the Georgia Cyber Academy a year early at 17 years old, finishing as the school’s valedictorian with a grade point average of 4.7. She is expected to graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of West Georgia in 2027 at age 19.
“Omolade is an inspiration. Her goals and planning for her future are a credit to herself and her family,” Cotton said. “The Optimist Club of Senoia is proud to play a small part in her future success.”
“I’m very grateful to the Optimist Club of Senoia and especially appreciative of their generosity even in their grief,” Adeniyi said. “Applying to memorial scholarships is always a somber process. It’s so admirable that someone can experience such a tragedy and still motivate themselves to uplift others.”
