North Lamar ISD students Amberlee Freelen, Mason Michael, and Berkley Smith were announced as this years Miller Time Scholarship recipients, an award given in honor of North Lamar alumnus Justin Miller.
The scholarship was presented by Justin’s mother, Cristie Ford, and best friend, Hunter Berry.
Miller, a 2007 graduate of North Lamar High School, went on to attend Paris Junior College and Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where he excelled in baseball and was later drafted by the San Diego Padres.
Scholarship applicants were asked to give their answer as to how participating in organized sports influenced their lives.
The three students shared powerful reflections on the impact of athletics and were recognized for their character, growth, and Panther spirit.
