GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich,. (WPBN/WGTU) – – The Experiential Learning Institute at Northwestern Michigan College will be hosting its 10th Annual Big Little Hero Race in April.
NMC is partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The idea of the race is to raise money to allocate scholarships to the littles for NMC's college for kids.
The event will take place on the campus near the Timothy J. Nelson Innovation Center and will feature a free one-mile fun run with complementary capes a 5k run and 10k run.
Other events include a superhero egg hunt with 1,000 eggs, a bake sale, a silent auction, carnival games, and prizes, and for the first time the inclusion of a sensory room.
“We want to make sure that, though this is a foot race, everyone can be included one way or another and this is a good opportunity that we can begin to work for future years in including everyone, even in a foot race,” said Mitchell Mosley, Public Relations Specialist.
Every year, students honor a local hero to receive an award recognizing their community support, dedication, and mentorship.
