NorState Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce they are awarding seven $1,000 scholarships to local graduating high school seniors. As part of the application process, high school applicants had to attend an Aroostook or Northern Penobscot County school, be accepted, and attend a two-year or four-year college or university and be an active NorState FCU member.
“We are proud to support the aspirations of our local high school seniors by awarding these scholarships,” stated Danielle Hebert, director of community engagement. “Investing in the education of our local students is an investment in the future of our community, and we are delighted to help these talented students on their path to success.”
NorState is proud to announce their 2024 scholarship winners: Isaac Bresett (Van Buren District Secondary School), Jack Buck (Presque Isle High School), Addion Davis (Van Buren District Secondary School), Xavier Deschaine (Van Buren District Secondary School), Robert Poiesz (Madawaska High School), Nicholas Poitras (Madawaska High School) and Lilly Roy (Wisdom High School).
Along with the application submission, students were asked to provide a testimonial on how their credit union has made a difference in their lives. Roy stated in her testimonial, “I know that NorState FCU has helped many small businesses and entrepreneurs in our community by contributing to them and their economic growth.”
Poitras mentioned, “As a high school senior who is soon heading off to college, both my savings and checking accounts at NorState will allow me to live independently and pay my own expenses.”
Davis also added, “We are fortunate to have a credit union in our town and someone who partners with local schools to provide financial education.”
Congratulations to the NorState Federal Credit Union scholarship recipients and to all 2024 graduates.
