LANSDALE, PA — A North Penn High School student has won a prestigious corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship award.
Jason Gentet Dodge, of Lansdale, plans to pursue industrial engineering in undergrad and beyond. The scholarship was awarded by Pfizer.
All told, 830 high school seniors around the nation won corporate-sponsored awards, financed by 124 different corporations and company foundations. A handful of scholarships awarded in this category are also funded by foundations and individual donors who have endowments with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
The corporate-sponsored awards, which are applied for through the individual sponsors, are separate from the general National Merit Scholarships awarded each year.
Awards vary in total amount, and specific amounts are not made publicly available. They’re usually renewable for four years of undergraduate study, and include stipends that range from $1,000 to $10,000 per year.
