CHICO, Calif. — The North Valley Health Education Foundation (NVHEF) celebrated its 50th anniversary last night at the Enloe Health Conference Center by awarding $33,300 in scholarships to 29 students from five North State counties. This year's awards bring the foundation's total scholarship contributions to over one million dollars, benefiting more than one thousand students since 1975.
Scholarship recipients include students attending UC Davis, California State University, Chico, Butte College and North State students enrolled in programs outside California. The scholarships are also awarded to employees and junior volunteers of Enloe Health. The foundation prioritizes students committed to returning to Northern California to pursue healthcare careers, with a preference for graduates from high schools within NVHEF’s 15-county service region.
Foundation leaders view these scholarships as investments in the future of North State healthcare.
Galindo added that the foundation aims to expand by increasing the number of students and scholarships in the future. To achieve this, foundation leaders are working to grow their donor base by reaching out to new North State counties.
