Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) has awarded $1,500 scholarships to 12 high school seniors across its service territory. An independent panel of judges evaluated applicants based on academic records, community involvement, demonstrated leadership, and recommendations.
Jordan Fisher
 Jordan Fisher, graduate of Charles J. Colgan Sr. High School, received a scholarship designated for a student who will be attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). Judged the most outstanding scholarship applicant, Fisher also received an additional $3,500 as the winner of the J. Manley Garber Scholarship. The award is named for the late NOVEC Board of Directors chairman. Fisher will attend Spelman College in Atlanta.

The Education Scholarship Foundation of the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC) awarded $124,500 in college scholarships for the 2024-25 school year.
Thirty-three students, including five in NOVEC’s service territory, earned Worth Hudson Scholarships. The NOVEC students are:
