DUQUOIN, Ill. (WSIL) — NubAbility Athletics Foundation in Du Quoin announced the opening of its Finding 50 scholarship program for first-time campers.
The scholarship is available to all first-time campers regardless of financial need, aiming to welcome at least one new camper from each state.
“If it were up to me, every limb-different child with a love for sports would know this opportunity exists. That is why we are calling on communities across the country to help us find new campers,” said Sam Kunhert, NubAbility founder and executive director. “No child should miss out on this life-changing experience simply because they haven’t heard about it.”
The scholarship covers camp registration fees for limb-different campers and one accompanying parent or guardian. Scholarships are also available for returning campers who need financial assistance.
Most recipients of the Finding 50 scholarship will likely attend the All Sports Camp from July 17-20 in Du Quoin. The camp is open to children ages 4 to 17 with limb differences or highly mobile cerebral palsy.
This year, the All Sports Camp expects to host 150 limb-different campers and 80 limb-different coaches from across the country. Campers will train in 19 different mainstream sports.
