HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) – Two Oak Grove High School students were awarded scholarships by Chick-fil-A to further their educations.
Chloe Moseley and Isabella Garrard were surprised Friday after being awarded $1,000 from the fast food restaurant’s “Remarkable Future Scholar” scholarship fund.
Both young women work at the food restaurant and were eligible to apply for the coveted scholarships.
Their classmates, teacher, and coworkers surprised them with their checks and treats.
Moseley and Garrard were among the 13 high school and college students who applied and received the scholarship.
The young women said they were grateful for their employer wanting to see them succeed.
“It’s amazing,” Moseley said. “I’m very grateful that they gave us this opportunity to be able to apply for these types of scholarships.
“That’s just really cool and it really helps. Anything helps with paying for school.”
Garrard agreed,
“For me, I think I’m gonna go to like education past a bachelor’s, maybe a master’s degree, so, stuff like this, it really does help a lot,” Garrard said.
After graduation, the seniors will be putting the scholarship money to use at Mississippi State University, where they will be side by side once again as roommates.
