OKLAHOMA CITY — Three Oklahoma 529 account holders have received college savings scholarships, one of which winning the grand prize.
Jennifer Palmer (Norman), Leonardo Garcia (Livermore, CA) and Frank Sullivan, III (Sallisaw) were all winners of the scholarship
Through a partnership between Oklahoma 529 and Upromise, these account holders were able to win a $529 contribution to their college savings plan with the grand prize being $1,000.
“Families who want to easily increase their college savings can use Upromise to help grow their Oklahoma 529 account while making everyday purchases,” said Oklahoma State Treasurer Todd Russ. “As a continuation of our 25th anniversary celebration, the scholarship giveaway was paired with Upromise rewards to give account holders an additional opportunity to build their Oklahoma 529 accounts.”
The grand prize winner, Frank Sullivan, III of Sallisaw, won $1,000 for his college savings account, which he has set up for his children.
“What a fantastic surprise! Thank you Oklahoma 529 and Upromise very much,” said Sullivan. “This news comes at a great time as I am recovering from a recent medical procedure that has put a ton of stress on our family. We have been Upromise members for years and have been contributing to our kids’ college savings plan since they were very young.”
Upromise is a platform that offers cash-back rewards for everyday activities. The rewards are transferred as contributions to an Oklahoma 529 account.
