LIMEHOF awards $10K in scholarships to local high school seniors
The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) recently awarded ten $1,000 scholarships to graduating students from across Long Island. Also, for the second year in a row a memorial scholarship was awarded in memory of LIMEHOF inductee Pat DeRosa.
The winners were as follows: Cooper Arbisi, Massapequa High School; Stephen Buff, Center Moriches High School; Cody Chelune, Island Trees High School; Jocelyn Chiu, Herricks High School; Giuliana Gallone, Kings Park High School; Dara Gordon, Commack High School; Emily Helbock, Sayville High School; Ryan Loughlin, Farmingdale High School; Aidan Passaro, Mt. Sinai High School; and Julian Zuzzolo, North Shore High School.

Peter Hoss of Harborfields High School was the recipient of the Pat DeRosa Scholarship.
 
Legislators Mulé and Koslow celebrate Freeport ‘Adopt-A-Cop’ day

Nassau County legislators Debra Mulé and Seth Koslow joined Freeport Elementary School’s fourth graders at the Freeport Recreation Center to commemorate the Freeport Police Department’s annual “Adopt-A-Cop” program. The event marks the culmination of a year-long initiative that strengthens bonds and builds trust between young people and their local law enforcement professionals.
“For decades, I have been thrilled to witness the growth of the Adopt-A-Cop program and the tremendous impact it has upon our youth and our entire community,” Legislator Mulé said in a written statement.
Legislator Koslow also expressed his appreciation through a written statement: “Programs like Adopt-a-Cop educate our young students about law enforcement and help to build trust between community members and the people who serve and protect them.”
 
Canon celebrates Townwide Fund of Huntington partnership

In honor of its partnership with the Townwide Fund of Huntington, Canon held a promotional night during a recent New York Yankees home game in the Bronx.
In addition to Canon distributing commemorative Juan Soto jerseys to the game’s first 18,000 attendees, the company also celebrated its longstanding partnership with the Townwide Fund of Huntington, which supports underserved families throughout the town, where Canon has been headquartered since 2013.
As part of the festivities, 100 tickets were also secured so underserved children and their families could enjoy the Yankee game as Canon’s guests.
 
Citizens Options Unlimited receives $91K for vulnerable residents

Disability services nonprofit Citizens Options Unlimited was awarded $91,000 as part of the Nonprofit Infrastructure Capital Investment Program, administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.
The grant will fund technology upgrades for Citizens’ Helen Kaplan Intermediate Care Facility in Plainview, offering long-term care to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities with  a higher level of need related to medical or behavioral complexities.
Also known as the “Cyber Configuration Update for the Helen Kaplan ICF,” this award will function to aid the program’s various IT capabilities.
