Planting Fields Foundation earns national recognition

Planting Fields Foundation has achieved accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), the highest national recognition for museum excellence in the United States. This designation places Planting Fields among the top three percent of museums nationwide and affirms its position as a leader in preservation, education, and cultural innovation.
Of the estimated 33,000 museums in the country, only about 1,100 hold this distinction. Planting Fields Foundation is now one of 70 museums across New York state to receive this honor.

Marilyn Lichtman Foundation in support of SCO children’s center

The Marilyn Lichtman Foundation provided a grant in support of SCO Family of Services’ Robert J. McMahon Children’s Center Capital Campaign to fund critical renovations for the residence and school for children with developmental disabilities located in Sea Cliff.
The foundation’s gift will help modernize the Vocational Room at the Tyree Learning Center, a New York State-certified special education school for the children who live at the RJMCC. Upgrades will include adding new adaptive equipment and new appliances designed to meet the unique needs of every student.

DDI Receives $20K in donations from high school math club

Developmental Disabilities Institute (DDI) received more than $20,000 in donations from Syosset High School’s Crescendo Math Club to build two new playgrounds featuring musical-themed equipment. With dedicated construction support from Home Depot, a new playground has been built at DDI’s Huntington Campus, with another planned for the Smithtown location.
The Crescendo Math Club members raised the funds for this project by tutoring fellow students, while Home Depot provided essential construction support and materials, including the cement pouring for the equipment pads.

OLA of Eastern Long Island has announced six recipients of the OLA Youth Scholarship: Briana Chávez, Vanessa Salomé Galindo, Gabriela Jácome and Bradley Rodríguez, all recently graduated from East Hampton High School (EHHS); and Daniel Rivas and Luis Tapia, recent graduates of Greenport High School (GHS).
OLA’s youth scholarship program supports high school students who will be attending two- or four-year colleges or who will be pursuing specialized vocational training.
