The C. T. Bauer College of Business recently celebrated the newest cohort of Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholars (TBUBS) at its Fall Reception, awarding 65 juniors and seniors with one of the college’s largest scholarships.
With the support of the C. T. Bauer Foundation, the scholarship is awarded to full-time students who have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and have demonstrated financial need. TBUBS is intended to help push upperclassmen business students to graduation without increased financial burden, Director of Student Success Whitney Johnson said.
Finance senior Alex Olley said TBUBS provided him with financial relief and allowed school to be his main priority. Currently a few months away from graduation, Olley said he was glad to celebrate at the TBUBS reception.
Supply chain management junior Hiba Qureshi was pleasantly surprised when she was chosen as a TBUBS scholar. She said the scholarship will help her and her family not worry about paying for school during the remainder of her college years.
At the reception, TBUBS recipients learned about the scholarship and college’s history. At the forefront was the impact of Charles T. “Ted” Bauer’s transformative gift. First-time scholars received a copy of “People are the Product,” a book written about Bauer’s company.
“Since the initial gift, the C. T. Bauer Foundation has given more than $18 million so far that goes strictly to the scholarship supporting students,” Bauer College Dean Xianjun Geng told recipients. “This is something amazing that you seldom hear about, and I’m very lucky to work in such an environment.”
Without the need to pay for tuition, Geng encouraged Bauer students to use as much time as possible to pursue their dreams.
Students can apply for all Bauer scholarships online.
