ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) — On Friday, the Orangeburg County School District (OCSD) announced North High School band students have secured over $1.5 million in prestigious scholarships, recognizing their hard work and academic success.
These scholarships provide valuable opportunities to further their education and reach their goals.
The Scholarship Fair, held on February 12, 2025, at Burke High School in Charleston, SC, featured 15 top Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) band programs.
The event was hosted by Mr. Linard McClound, a band director who has been dedicated for over 20 years.
He has played a key role in helping students secure scholarships through his strong connections with HBCU band programs.
OCSD also acknowledged Mr. Herman Marsh, Band Director at North/Middle High School, for his support and mentorship in preparing students for these opportunities.

Superintendent Dr. Shawn D. Foster expressed pride in the students’ resilience and achievements, emphasizing the support of educators, families, and the community.
