Oct. 30, 2024, Klamath Falls, Ore. – The Oregon Tech Foundation awarded $1,020,000 in scholarships to Oregon Tech students this year, the third year in a row that awards have exceeded $1 million. The scholarships were celebrated Oct. 26 as participants gathered at the Klamath Falls campus for the Annual Scholarship Awards Banquet. This special event honors the achievements of scholarship recipients and recognizes the philanthropic donors who make scholarships possible.
Funds raised through scholarships make a dramatic difference across Oregon Tech. For academic year 2024-25, the Foundation awarded 324 scholarships ranging from $285 to $16,000. These scholarships fill various needs for students including those pursuing excellence in academics, assisting those with demonstrated lesser financial resources, increasing opportunities for underrepresented groups, attracting and retaining students in certain fields of study, supporting scholarly athletes, and helping those close to graduation earn a diploma when they have limited to no financial resources left.
Recently established scholarships that provided momentum in reaching the Foundation’s annual $1 million goal include the Applied Mathematics Endowed Scholarship, Maurice and Rebecca Gunderson Engineering Scholarship, Alexis Lyle Runyan Memorial Scholarship, and Terry J. Sahr Memorial Scholarship, in addition to many existing endowments and loyal annual scholarship supporters. See a full listing of awarded scholarships here.
A senior in Biology-Health Sciences, Carly Moss is a member of the Oregon Tech women’s soccer team and received the 2024-25 Booster Club Athletic Scholarship. Moss serves as a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics student representative and spoke at the event about how support from Oregon Tech and donors impacted her life.
“I would like to thank the Booster Club for allowing me to represent our schools’ athletics and have a voice in the community,” Moss said. “My college journey is coming to an end, but I wouldn’t be who I am if it wasn’t for Oregon Tech. Being a part of this community, both academically and athletically, has been an experience I would never hope to change. I am continuing my education in hope of getting my doctorate in physical therapy and continue to share the valuable lessons I have learned in my undergraduate.”
