OSWEGO – The Oswego Players are proud to be able to award two scholarships each year, in honor of two individuals whose contributions to the organization merit remembrance and appreciation: Lawrence E. ā€œLarryā€ Rose, a long-time actor, set builder, tech operator, and stage manager with the Players, and Marion Elizabeth Green, a playwright, a performing-arts reviewer for the Oswego Palladium-Times, and patron of the Oswego Players.
Applicants for each award must be college-bound high school seniors residing in the county of Oswego, with the intent of going on to an accredited two-or-four-year institution, and majoring in either the performing arts for the Rose scholarship, or English Writing Arts for the Green scholarship. Each scholar award is $250, raised in part thanks to generous donations from the community, and are paid directly to the winner of the scholarship.
This year’s deserving recipients are Mexico High School’s Kaden Perry, and Oswego High School’s Dylan Klefbeck, respectively.
Kaden Perry, winner of the Larry Rose scholarship, has studied theatre all through high school, both on stage (most recently performing as Danny Zuko in Grease), and backstage, performing a variety of technical functions. He will be attending SUNY Oswego in the Fall to study Theatre and Criminal Justice. Kaden has learned that it is important to be yourself, and to do what you enjoy, rather than what you think other people want you to do.

Dylan Klefbeck, winner of the Marion Green Scholarship, has been doing graphic design for three years, primarily collages and stock photos to represent landscapes and modern imagery, and will continue to do so at the University of Buffalo. Dylan feels that each piece he creates is important because it represents some aspect of who he is as an individual, and he hopes to inspire people to be the best they can be.

Tammy Thompson, as President of the Oswego Players, presented the checks. Thompson believes that the scholarships embody a Core Value of the organization, which is to spark creativity and passion in every individual. She feels that these two fine young men demonstrate this value in abundance, saying that ā€œIt is the Oswego Players’ pleasure to assist the next generation of leaders in our society in any way that we can. We hope Dylan and Kaden have successful studies at their respective Universities and always maintain an interest in the Fine Arts and Theater.ā€
