ST. JOSEPH — Two local chapters of an international organization are in the midst of an endeavor meant to raise money – and awareness – for women’s education.
Jan Baumgras, president of the DG chapter, and Nancy Fette, president of the DV chapter of the P.E.O., also known as the Philanthropic Education Organization, are working to help students apply for scholarships. As a whole, the P.E.O. Sisterhood has brought together more than half a million women in the U.S. and Canada. As one of the oldest women’s organizations in North America, there are more than 5,400 chapters.
