PARKERSBURG — High school students from Washington County have been awarded scholarships through the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation.
Awards recognize academic excellence and community involvement of the students and empower them to pursue higher education and contribute to their communities, according to a release from the foundation.
The foundation awarded 320 scholarships worth more than $660,000. The awards are made possible through the generosity of local individuals, families, businesses and organizations.
Each scholarship fund carries with it a story of generosity, remembrance and belief in a student’s future, according to Jennifer Randolph, scholarship officer.
“It is truly an honor to award these scholarships,” Randolph said. “Each scholarship represents the legacy of a donor who wanted to make a meaningful difference. Our role is to carry out their wishes and help students achieve their dreams.”
