PARKERSBURG — More than 50 high school students from Wood County have received scholarships through the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation, the foundation announced.
Awards recognize academic excellence and community involvement and empower students to pursue higher education and contribute to their communities, according to a release from the foundation.
More than $660,000 in scholarships comprising 320 individual awards were distributed. Scholarships are made possible by local individuals, businesses and organizations, according to Jennifer Randolph, foundation scholarship officer.
“It is truly an honor to award these scholarships,” she said. “Each one embodies the heartfelt intention of a donor, many created to honor the memory of a loved one. Our privilege is to bring those intentions to life, empowering students while honoring legacies that create opportunities for generations to come.”
