Pasadena Water and Power is still accepting applications for its 2025 Educational Scholarship but the window will close soon — on Friday, March 28. The community-owned utility awards two scholarships annually to outstanding high school seniors in Pasadena planning to attend accredited post-secondary institutions.
“As a community-owned utility, PWP takes pride in empowering local youth through educational programs and initiatives with the goal of encouraging environmental stewardship, resource mindfulness, and community investment through creative exploration,” said David Reyes, PWP Interim General Manager.
The scholarship program offers $5,000 for first place and $2,500 for second place. Recipients can apply these funds toward education at either two-year or four-year accredited institutions for the upcoming academic year.
Applicants must submit a five-minute maximum video responding to this year’s prompt, which asks students to consider their passion for a STEM-related field and how it may contribute to the public and utility sector, and to improving the overall health of the planet.

PWP serves more than 65,000 electricity customers within Pasadena and delivers water to nearly 38,000 households and businesses in Pasadena and adjacent communities in the San Gabriel Valley. As a nonprofit public service, PWP operates under the City of Pasadena for the benefit of its customers and the community.
