SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Each year, the Pay It Forward Project grants scholarships to students who make a positive difference in our community and our schools. Six scholarships are being awarded to deserving South Lake Tahoe students this year.
The Pay it Forward Project is a fund of the El Dorado Community Foundation and encourages volunteerism in schools and in the community. Scholarships are available in schools in the South Lake Tahoe, Carson City, and Douglas County areas for students with a background in volunteerism and building a better community.
The Project would like to congratulate the following recipients for this year’s scholarships:
South Tahoe High School – Milan Riva, Alexandra Pickett, Josephine Feeney.
Whittell High School – Sophia Pulver.
Lake Tahoe Community College – Hugh Perez for the fire academy and Yusuf Demir for continuing education.
John McDougall, founder of the Pay It Forward Project, would like to congratulate all of these students and encourage them to continue to make a positive difference through volunteerism. We encourage them to continue to work hard in achieving their educational goals moving forward.
The Pay it Forward Project has new community Volunteer Facebook page for people to connect with nonprofit organizations in need of assistance. Those organizations can also post their specific volunteer needs on that page.
“We can all make a positive difference by just volunteering for a couple of hours each month and thus meeting interesting like-minded people and building a better community,” said John.
