CROSSLAKE — At the May awards night for graduating students, Pequot Lakes High School senior Athena Swann was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Crosslake Art Club.
Her father, Cyrus Swann, was the art club’s very first scholarship recipient when he graduated from Pequot Lakes High School. Cyrus has been a successful professional potter for many years.

Athena plans to attend post-secondary school this fall. She will bring some of her works to be displayed at the Crosslake Art Club’s 40th annual art show Aug. 7-9 at the Crosslake Community Center on Daggett Pine Road.
The event will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. all three days, with a large gallery of new local art along with a gift shop and member-created door prizes to be given away.
Crosslake Art Club members have raised money for student scholarships for many years, and the club has appreciated the public supporting the scholarship program with purchases of small paintings or pieces of pottery.
Each art club member donates at least one small painting or a piece of pottery to support the program.
