Jonesboro, AR — (Contributed) — June 10, 2025 — The Pi Kappa Alpha (Pike) Scholarship Board has announced the establishment of the Pi Kappa Alpha / Miss Arkansas State University Endowed Scholarship, a new $25,000 fund supporting Arkansas State University students involved in the annual scholarship competition.

Funded through a five-year commitment by Pi Kappa Alpha (Pike) alumni and supporters, the scholarship will benefit A-State students who are winners of the Miss A-State competition or active members of the Delta Theta Chapter of Pike who served as the competition’s undergraduate executive director or supported its operations.
Pi Kappa Alpha has sponsored the Miss Arkansas State competition for 50 years, and the fund was established through the Arkansas State University System Foundation, Inc.
“We’re proud to help continue the tradition of the Miss Arkansas State competition by creating this scholarship,” said Tim O. Brown, chairman of the Pike Alumni Scholarship Board and an A-State Distinguished Alumnus. “This initiative honors student leadership, character and the spirit of service that have defined this competition for decades.”

The scholarship gives preference to students who exemplify academic achievement and leadership with integrity.
“This gift affirms our commitment to supporting student success and recognizing those who contribute meaningfully to campus life,” said Jeff Hankins, a Pike alumnus who serves as executive director of the competition and is vice president of strategic communications and economic development for the ASU System. “This scholarship is a way to preserve the legacy of Miss Arkansas State and ensure that students who give their time, talent and leadership to this event are also given opportunities to grow and succeed. It’s not just about honoring a title — it’s about investing in the potential of students.”
The Pi Kappa Alpha / Delta Theta Chapter Scholarship Board oversees more than $1.8 million in endowed funds and awards over $60,000 in scholarships each year to A-State students.
