PLAINFIELD, IL — A senior at Plainfield East High School is one of 558 semifinalists for the 2024 Cooke College Scholarship Program, officials announced.
Frida Mora Garcia will find out in April if she will win a scholarship from the highly competitive program, funded by the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, that awards as much as $55,000 per year to pursue a bachelor’s degree at any accredited undergraduate institution.
Mora Garcia is one of 32 semifinalists from Illinois. This year, more than 3,800 high schools in all 50 states applied for the scholarship, marking the largest pool of applicants the foundation has received to date.
Scholars are chosen based on exceptional academic ability and achievement, financial need, persistence, service to others and leadership.
