Dyk primarily plays catcher for the Parkston Rays amateur baseball team, and he has future plans to become a conservation officer. The scholarship was presented during the first round of the state amateur baseball tournament in Brandon.
The SD Umpires Association members are responsible for baseball rule interpretations, making the calls, and promoting our youth. A plaque with every recipient of the scholarship is on display at the South Dakota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame in Lake Norden.
Many past award winners have played, officiated or coached the game of baseball and have appeared in the state amateur baseball tournament and have become leaders and are involved in the activities in their communities.
