Point Breeze Credit Union awards $40K in 18th annual scholarship program

Point Breeze Credit Union awarded $40,000 in scholarships to 20 local high school students as part of its 18th annual scholarship program.
The students, each of whom received $2,000, competed for the awards through an application process that requested details about the students’ involvement in school activities and their community, a letter of acceptance from the college or trade school of their choice, a personal reference and an academic reference.
In addition to the application, students were required to submit two essays – one in which they described their goals and how their education would help them achieve those goals, and a second in which they discussed strengths and weaknesses in their financial literacy skills and how Point Breeze Credit Union could help them overcome their weaknesses.
Recipients of Point Breeze Credit Union’s 18th Annual Scholarship Awards are:
- Charles Greene, a graduate of John Carroll High School who plans to attend Felician University
- Winson Toomey, a graduate of Loyola Blakefield who plans to attend University of Tampa
- Fiona Mulloney, a graduate of Hereford High School who plans to attend Marquette University
- Noah Hancock, a graduate of Harford Technical High School who plans to attend Towson University
- Sydney McDonald, a graduate of George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology who plans to attend UMBC
- Lily Burton, a graduate of Eugene Ashley High School who plans to attend Liberty University
- Maslen Bogdan, a graduate of Century High School who plans to attend Florida Institute of Technology
- Omo Imode, a graduate of Havre de Grace High School who plans to attend Harvard University
- Meghanne Schrieber, a graduate of Bowie High School who plans to attend University of Louisville
- Joshua Kovacsics, a graduate of Havre de Grace High School who plans to attend University of Maryland – Eastern Shore
- Shakaya Ammons, a graduate of New Town High School who plans to attend Washington & Jefferson College
- Emily Reese, a graduate of Eastern Technical High School who plans to attend Lycoming University
- Joseph Nuzzo, a graduate of Westminster High School who plans to attend Mount St. Mary’s University
- Carys Kolb, a graduate of George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology who plans to attend Syracuse University
- Samantha Mink, a graduate of Franklin High School who plans to attend Temple University
- Leah Holman, a graduate of C. Milton Wright High School who plans to attend James Madison University
- Chiara Adjoh-Davoh, a graduate of George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology who plans to attend Howard University
- Olivia Gardner, a graduate of Sparrows Point High School who plans to attend Shepherd University
- Chiemela Nwokoro, a graduate of Eastern Technical High School who plans to attend Purdue University
- Alexander Enderlein, a graduate of Harford Technical High School who plans to attend UMBC.
To be eligible for the scholarship awards, students must be graduating from high school in the current calendar year and be an owner, joint owner, or named on a custodial account in good standing with Point Breeze Credit Union.
Point Breeze Credit Union is one of Maryland’s largest credit unions, with more than 63,000 members and approximate assets of $940 million. A full-service financial institution that is member-owned and not-for-profit, Point Breeze has offices in Hunt Valley, Rosedale, Bel Air, Westminster and Owings Mills.
