PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A new scholarship program is being launched by the Portage Public Safety Foundation.
It is aimed at supporting people who want a career in public safety and recognizes the vital role officers play in ensuring a community’s well-being and safety.
The scholarship provides funds for tuition, fees, uniforms, and other living expenses while pursuing a program of study related to public safety such as Law Enforcement, Corrections, Fire Science, or Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice offered at Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
It is open to students pursuing a criminal justice degree, current law enforcement officers who want advanced education, or high school seniors who have a “passion for public safety.”
The Portage Public Safety Foundation says this scholarship marks a significant step toward building
a more prepared and well-trained workforce in the field of public safety.
