Three Homewood-Flossmoor High School seniors are receiving scholarships through the Posse Foundation.
Rickie Lockett Jr. and Pedro Lugo will be attending Wittman College in Walla Walla, Washington. Vianney Martinez will attend Panoma College in Claremont, California. They were selected for the merit-based scholarship based on their academic records and leadership abilities.
The students were nominated for their scholarships and selected schools from a list that host Posse Scholars. They worked with H-F College Counselor Kevin Coy in preparing their applications. They went through three rounds of interviews: a large group interview followed by a one-on-one session, and then with students who will be attending the same college as them.
The Posse Foundation identifies, recruits and trains the students during their college careers. The Posse Scholars work in cohorts on campus during their freshmen and sophomore years, meeting with mentors weekly as a group and individually every two weeks.
The Career Program provides Posse Scholars with the tools and opportunities to secure the most competitive internships and leadership-track jobs in a variety of industries.
