KINGWOOD, W.Va. (WV News) — The Preston County Chamber of Commerce is inviting the community to come together to “raise a glass, raise a bid, raise a future” for its Annual Scholarship Auction, scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at High Ground Brewing in Terra Alta.
The event, which is open to the public, will feature locally brewed beer, food from a local food truck, and a lively auction featuring one-of-a- kind items donated by Chamber members and friends.
All proceeds of the event directly benefit a scholarship fund, awarded to a local high school senior whose family is part of the Chamber community, officials said.
Kristy Ash, executive director of the Preston County Chamber of Commerce, said the auction is one of the chamber’s favorite events of the year.
“It’s a celebration of community, generosity, and the next generation of leaders,” she said. “There’s nothing better than coming together for a fun night, supporting a great cause, and lifting up our local students.”
Instead of tickets, attendees are asked to bring an item to be auctioned.
Suggested donations include: handmade crafts or artwork, quilts, wine or craft beer baskets, gift cards, or dinner-for-two experiences from local restaurants.
Whether participants are donating, bidding or simply enjoying the atmosphere, the event provides a chance to connect with neighbors while helping fund opportunities for Preston County’s youth, chamber officials said.
